About the project

The project aims to support specialist primary school teachers who are struggling to balance work and personal/family life in the current context of the global Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic has drastically changed the structure of life as we know it. All work that is not necessary to be done in person has moved from offices to people’s homes. Across Europe, schools were closing and education moved online.

This situation created a lot of pressure on teachers, who had to be very flexible in terms of time and content, and in the meantime had to look after their own families and children, who were often also out of the school system. Parents could thus feel that they were working all the time.

Under these circumstances, balancing remote work and family life thus became a challenging task, especially when experienced from both sides, as a teacher adapting to remote work and as a parent caring for children remotely. Thus, to make schools more sustainable and resilient to such sudden changes and adaptation needs, it was essential to prevent burnout of their staff and address pandemic and post-pandemic changes and provide teachers with knowledge and opportunities for work-life balance.

The project focuses on the following objectives:

  • To help teachers find the work/personal life balance and to prevent them from mental health problems.
  • Addressing digital transformation through the development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity
  • Support teachers, school leaders and other teaching professions and development of key competences
